It's the end of the year, and as always, we're taking a look at the twenty most-loved films of the Criticker community. These are the movies which people tend to list as favorites, and this list contains some great variety. Documentary, comedy, animation, romance, and a top five that we think is pretty near unassailable.
How many of 2019's best films have you seen? Did your favorite make the list?
20. The Game Changers - Love Percentage: 11.43%
https://www.criticker.com/film/The-Game-Changers/
"Solid good important information. It really doesn't go into too much detail and as many other films like it spends a lot of time talking about the basics while not adding too much new information for people who are already changing their eating habits. The big upside to this documentary as opposed to all the previous ones is the focus of popular athletes which will provide a larger buy in and interest among the general populous." - hotsake

19. Toy Story 4 - Love Percentage: 11.7%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Toy-Story-4
"Sue me. I thought this was excellent. While I was very satisfied with how the last film ended, this is an unbelievably wonderful addition to the franchise. Woody gets the most development and screentime, so you may be left wanting that old chemistry from the earlier films, but this film somehow manages to make good use of its new addition. I couldn't stop tearing up for the last fifteen minutes of the film. Continues the story with rich storytelling, laughs and tears. Pixar has done it again!" - Leonardis

18. Her Smell - Love Percentage: 11.7%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Her-Smell
"After about 30 minutes I hated this and wanted to turn it off. After getting through the first act I appreciated everything I saw before and what an incredible creation this is. It feels more like a stage play on screen, complete with audio that amplifies the feeling in that first act, and this is probably the first 'play on screen' film I've ever enjoyed. Moss is given a tough job in this film and doesn't always make me believe at first but I don't think anyone could. Great effort all around" - bizort

17. Jojo Rabbit - Love Percentage: 12.37%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Jojo-Rabbit
"I was nestled into the softness of comedy before the horrors of war tore me asunder. Fuck off, Hitler." - BillyShears

16. Diane - Love Percentage: 12.9%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Diane-2018
"Beautifully observed, low-key character study gives Place a long overdue showcase which she runs with; it's such a joy to watch her and a wonderful cast of similar "broken toys" given the opportunity to create this rich feeling of society and community (and a reminder of what an untapped resource scene-stealer Parsons is!) Stumbles a little at the denouement, attempting a concrete wrap-up of some threads which could have been left hanging, but overall an immensely satisfying experience." - glumpy_99

15. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Love Percentage: 13.27%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Once-Upo ... -in-2019-b
"Perhaps Tarantino's most formally, symbolically, and narratively daring work since Pulp Fiction. Yes, it's often indulgent and overlong, but when your central theme is the retreat into (and conflation of) fantasy and reality, that's ok. Film rule: if you see it, it happened. So, the ending is Tarantino affirming, through his reality (movies!), that a few whacked-out hippies did not destroy the idyll of filmdom: It lives on. There's a reason why Cielo translates to Heaven." - Mentaculus

14. Transit - Love Percentage: 14.42%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Transit-2018
"Unlike the "historical" movies that try to imitate the reality of the past, Petzold brings together the Nazi past and the contemporary mass immigration and statelessness, with a Brechtian attitude. Besides being about being a political refugee, Transit is literally about the transiency of life, desires, and of the narrative itself. Perhaps we are all the customers of that café, waiting for someone or leaving others behind, and our stories are narrated by a bartender silently watching us." - loc42

13. Avengers: Endgame - Love Percentage: 17.3%

"It's over, it's finally over! After 10 plus years and 22 films, I finally get to be done having to run out to the theater and see the latest addition of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe now I'll explore some more mature fare, and I guess maybe see what all the brouhaha around being an adult is all about, ...huh?...what?...wait..."Spider-Man: Far From Home"(2019) trailer begins to play....sigh...ugh...I mean...I guess...Disney...just...shut up and take my money." - TimeCapsule

12. Waves - Love Percentage: 18.42%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Waves
"I couldn't get out of my seat once the credits started rolling. It's an emotional torrent. A hurricane that'll lay waste to your soul, and build a structure of hope in its place." - natebarrios

11. Knives Out - Love Percentage: 19.88%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Knives-Out
"Does a great job of keeping its cards close to its chest, thus demanding detective work of our own in order to piece the mystery together. This makes for a fun, engaging and incredibly active viewing experience that managed to keep this viewer guessing even when I felt I had figured everything out. And Benoit Blanc clearly needs his own tv show." - frederic_g54

10. Joker - Love Percentage: 19.98%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Joker-2019
"A slow burner of a descent into madness as his mind cracks and society decays around him, Phoenix's Fleck is disturbing and delusional. Fully immersed in a world of chaos and confusion, Phoenix offers up a complete transformation that very few have ever accomplished before him. It should leave you uncomfortable as you watch someone's brain splinter and lose grip on reality due to a mental illness. It's title refers to a character, the content gives criticism on how society handles mental illness" - kgbelliveau

9. Honeyland - Love Percentage: 21.05%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Honeyland-2019
"Even in a bee-infested Macedonian desert, you can't escape shitty neighbours. On a more serious note, this was a truly breathtaking effort as a film that fits in a grey area between narrative/documentary filmmaking. Its just a remarkable, heartbreaking film that will expand your appreciation for the human spirit." - deaddilly

8. A Hidden Life - Love Percentage: 21.33%
https://www.criticker.com/film/A-Hidden-Life-2019
"In the Austrian Alps, Malick finds a modern Christ figure in a farmer who lets himself be crucified for the sake of following God's voice - the voice he hears in the wind and in the woods, in the halls of his church, in the eyes of his wife and children. Every image is laden with both the importance and humility of his decision to be a free spiritual being in this world. And for the first time since A New World I completely felt that Malick's sublime images were not merely precious but alive." - schnofel

7. The Irishman - Love Percentage: 26.53%
https://www.criticker.com/film/The-Irishman
"The Irishman is an epic, but it's an epic of a wasted life: the story of a man who turned opportunity into loss and death at every turn, and has nothing left but to wait for his own. Scorsese has stripped the mob life of any trace of glamour, leaving us only with the melancholy inevitability of death. All Frank Sheeran has left are his memories, but even the good ones do nothing but haunt him." - Alex Watkins

6. Apollo 11 - Love Percentage: 26.96%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Apollo-11-2019
"The amount of raw footage NASA kept on a shelf from this historic mission is dizzying, but it is also very impressive that Miller and his team were able to piece it together to retell the story with such clarity. The photography is often breathtaking." - WWallce4prez

5. The Lighthouse - Love Percentage: 27.9%
https://www.criticker.com/film/The-Lighthouse-2019
"Exile, psychosis, mythology, animal spirits, repression - once again Eggers precipitates beast/man/god intercourse on the stage of untamed nature, this time by trapping two dudes in a divine phallic symbol. Dog becomes god and vice-versa. Career performances from the leads, powerful hard-earned footage, potent horror and disturbing humor. Movies about people going crazy just do it for me - I'm taking five points off for now because they didn't use Ween's "Ocean Man" over the end credits." - Hawkins

4. Marriage Story - Love Percentage: 29.48%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Marriage-Story
"The leads knock this one out of the park. The opening is just perfect, and other highlights from this surprisingly empathetic film from Baumbach would include the big fight and the end of the visit from the social worker. 'The Squid and the Whale' is now no longer Baumbach's best, and 'Marriage Story' is not only a strong contender for the best movie of the year, but also no less than one of the better dramas of the decade." - KasperL

3. Portrait of a Lady on Fire - Love Percentage: 30.88%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Portrait-of-a-Lady-on
"On the surface it seems like another slow and understated period queer romantic drama, but the magnetic performances from (and chemistry between) the two actresses, and Sciamma’s exquisite framing and layered, moving screenplay, with astute observations on memory and it's triggers, authentic tenderness, and some surprisingly topical elements, lift it far above most of its contemporaries (where it promptly shits on Carol from a great height). One of the year's best." - Bown

2. Uncut Gems - Love Percentage: 33.33%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Uncut-Gems
"This is much better than Good Time on every level. It's got gem auctions and it's got Kevin Garnett and it's got NBA betting and Adam Sandler in a performance that is actually great. The suspense is on acid, will KG get over 8.5 rebounds? I'm a sucker for this type of action, I just love this stuff." - LuxNatalis

1. Parasite - Love Percentage: 43.34%
https://www.criticker.com/film/Parasite-2019
"Truly a special movie. What starts as a black comedy becomes something unpredictable and thrilling. The pacing is perfect and the acting brings these bizarre characters to life. Some scenes in the movie got my heart racing because of how tense it was. I could gush more about this, but just see it." - FoxyRussian
