The Conspirator & James McAvoy

Post by ayall »

Just recently caught this flick, and i must say i was very impressed by James McAvoy in his role.

I'd been avoiding Redford flicks ever since I saw The Legend of Bagger Vance, but The Conspirators was actually good!

I was surprised this flew under my radar and didn't get any recognition during award seasons in 2010 considering a lot of the awfulness that was floating around the academy.

I think McAvoy has that Russell Crowe look, and i think he really shined in this film with a strong performance.

I can't say I liked his role in the new X-men movie, but i bet in a few years he'll be one of the top "serious" actors in Hollywood.... i'll just hope he steers clear of chick-flicks.

you should, i'd like to hear your feedback... not sure why this didn't get any prior recognition (maybe bad marketing?)

PS - I didn't realize you were in Sunnyvale, i thought you were in LA... i drive through Sunnyvale on the rare occasion I go into the office (sf>280>237>milpitas)

Yeah, I hadn't even heard of the film until now. That's more my fault than anything, though; I feel like there's never an excuse for not hearing about a Hollywood release these days.

I grew up in the Bay Area, but lived in LA County for college. Now I moved to an apartment back around these parts. And heh, that's a pretty damn annoying commute. I manage to avoid most of it, since whenever I travel to SF, I usually just take the Caltrain.

The commute can be long and annoying, but i only do it once or twice a week and the drive on 280 is rather beautiful and relaxing... I just returned from Shanghai where I'd have a similar length commute, comprised of 1/4 the distance and nothing but bumper-2-bumper traffic and honking as scenery... relatively, it's a rather pleasant change.
Besides, i would never leave the city if it wasn't for that occasional commute. 8-)

But strangely enough, the number of clueless Asian drivers is the exact same...

Heh, I would never visit the city if it wasn't for the occasional commute somewhere!
