Re: John Hughes
He was never gonna make anything of significance again, but it's still sad. It's like the final nail in the coffin for the 80s. Some would argue that was 1990, but NO. NO.

Re: John Hughes
A pretty awesome life. And in iconic '80s burnout fashion; with a decade spent building a legacy of substance.
I'll commemorate with Ferris Bueller's.

Re: John Hughes
I watched The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink and Ferris Bueller enough times as a kid that I will never have to watch any of them ever again. Sixteen Candles emerged as the only movie of his from that period that I can endure sitting through as an adult (and when I say adult, I mean adult 10 years ago).
I actually have a clearer memory of watching the cleaned-up for commercial TV version of The Breakfast Club, mostly due to the ridiculous dubbed-in "Damn you!" every time a character said "F**k you!".

John Hughes was a fine director and helped create a new genre, the teen school film. Granted, the vast majority of such movies have sucked, but his in particular didn't. In fact, the five films of his that I've seen are an average of 69.0, or T8. RIP.
