Van Gogh: Painted with Words

rather unconventional storytelling style, mixing traditional documentary narration/imagery with performance - it took quite a while to get used to, but ultimately i think it worked, in large part due to the fascinating content of van gogh's letters themselves, and to cumberbatch's lively and convincing performance. the film succeeded in revealing the incredible life of an incredible artist in a manner that was factual and yet carried the emotional weight many informative documentaries lack.
