You can feel the writers streeeeetching out the plot to fill episodes.

unwatchable starting with ep2.. campy writing, bad directing, and hammy acting. even worse writing. did i mention the bad writing?

"Hubba, hubba, hubba! Money, money, money! Who do ya TRUUUST?"

Some strong episodes, huge production values, superb Italian casting. Best in show, Luca Marinelli and Silas Carson. But the overall tone of the show is inconsistent, especially Fraser appearing as a self-conscious narrator just when it's convenient does not really work.

If you get through the first 3 episodes, directed by the most self-indulgent director of all time Danny Boyle (i hate his style, i can't repeat it enough) you'll find some really great episodes recounting a crazy true story. I was surprised how serious and deep this series became. The 130 year old Donald Sutherland is still prime Donald Sutherland, here a diabolical sociopath, played with great vitality and the depth you might expect from this legendary actor
