The Worst Witch

Please ignore my score. I know this is a terrible film but the nostalgia goggles are just too strong.

The acting is good across the board - Diana Rigg, Fairuza Balk, Charlotte Rae, of course Tim Curry, and even many of the smaller roles. The terrible special effects are charming, and the garish color schemes are fun. But the story spends way too long lingering on an unpleasantly realistic portrayal of what it's like to be a target of bullying from teachers and students alike, moving a fun kids' story into a dark psychodrama without realizing it, and the lackadasical pacing just makes it worse.

The Worst Witch estreava há 35 anos nos EUA e em honra de Jill Murphy (1949 - 2021). Li hoje o livro e logo depois vi esse especial para a TV e é inegável a influência nos Harry Potters, para não dizer que é plágio descarado. Surgido da experiência em estudar em internato para meninas é um ótimo meio de identificação coming-of-age para garotas cuja autoestima não seja das melhores, como é tão comum na adolescência, além de apresentar um mundo ético a ser seguido com verossimil

I admire the complete disregard for convincing special effects, and that Tim Curry music video was a riot!

Bad movie with piss poor effects and yet it had me laughing. The acting is bad the movie is incredibly silly and quite aside for a few parts that drag.
