Genre: Drama. And how! This show is just way too monotonously grim and brooding to be enjoyable by anyone. I don't care how serious your TV show's topic is; find moments for SOME kind of levity, or it's just smothering. I call it Low Winter Sun Syndrome.

A constant bombardment of grim unhappy people. There is almost no joy to be found, which you would think would be OK for a dark drama, but it isn't. You just feel bad about yourself and everything else after you are done. Decent score because everyone does a good job.

TV: The Red Road is a dark, richly plotted and affecting drama series that really grew as a show in its second season. Perhaps a little highly wrought at times, if well meaning, but consistently engrossing. The first two seasons are relatively self-contained and can be enjoyed despite the show not being renewed again. In particular worth watching for its somewhat unique exploration (especially in TV land) of the past and present coexisting through mental instability and depression. S1: 81|S2: 84
