The Perfect Couple

Amusing little murder mystery. Good actors and cinematography for a tv miniseries. Very human characters in that they are relatable but I also would hate every single one of them in real life. Some of the twists make no sense, why hide obviously verifiable things from the police + why couldn't they figure them out on their own. Acceptable ending. I liked the whole thing. Quite charming.

Yeaa, it wasn’t awful, it wasn’t greatee. Quite watchable if you don’t expect something amazing. Nowhere near White Lotus of course

It feels like this was conceived as a comedy/satire, but then the writers forgot they were supposed to include the humor. The overall vibe of the whole thing screams for satire and even the direction/cinematography feels comedy-driven. Some good performances from the leads helps keep this engaging, but it's not on par with other similar shows from the last several years.

Masterful writing/directing. Dimensional characters, exquisite acting, great nuanced drama. I think the other drive-by review blasting it was likely due to all the philandering & terrible people, but that is part of the point. That review was beneath the dignity of this series and the god tier talent that went into it. It’s a comment on influencer/celebrity culture, in a big way. But despite it being a “morality play”/tragedy, it’s also hilarious throughout & never loses sight of absurdity…
