I was 11 years old when this was shown as the first episode the ABC Afterschool Special back in 1972. It's tale of mankind's role in the extinction of a species of a North American bird, not only brought tears to my eyes, but sowed a seed of environmentalism in my mind. It has been almost 40 years since I first watched this wonderful film, but it's message has never left me.
