I personally don't mind the animation if the story is entertaining, but even then, it gets better each season. I love the MC couple, Rayllum💙💜. I haven't experienced a couple with that much chemistry between them in a long time. Really sweet! 👍

Incredible. It's a gorgeous show, well-written, with likeable characters, great dialogue and voice acting, often witty with laugh out loud moments. Suitable for both kids and older fantasy lovers. Season 4 and 5 don't maintain the same quality, however.

I wanted to like this. The animation was really pretty good, and there honestly aren't a lot of really solid fantasy cartoons. But they leaned really hard into the social commentary in the second season and I couldn't get through it. I would rather children's entertainment didn't get too political. No luck here. Ranking this based on the enjoyment I had throughout the first season.

Yeah this show is amazing. There are a couple of writing decisions that don't sit well with me, and the animation in season 1 is rough, but the characters are complex, and the show is also surprisingly dark for a "kids show."

(S1-3) The first season was rough, with choppy animation and heavy exposition drops, but both the story and animation has noticeably improved with each season and I'm excited to see where this will go. Feels a lot like a spiritual successor to Avatar: The Last Airbender (which makes sense, considering the showrunner of this was a senior writer for AtLA)

Easily the best fantasy show I've seen in the last 5 years. Fantasy nowadays has taken a way too serious turn in my opinion. The genre forgot to be joyful and a bit childish when it's necessary. That is how the genre works best. It is no wonder that the much needed remedy comes from a cartoon show, but nonetheless this is a must watch if you like the old classic take on the genre, which is: Not too serious, not too dark, but still telling a well written and epic fantasy story.

Lord Of The Rings with Disney high-school sarcasm. I probably would have enjoyed this in my early teen D&D period.

Two seasons in, The Dragon Prince is brilliant. There are some juvenile moments, but on the whole the plot is engaging and characters have a complexity such that the line between good and evil is blurred. The animation is colourful and clear, and though I've never had any issues the complaints seemed to be resolved after the 1st season. The score is great. Should the show continue down its current path and not (over)indulge in romantic relationships, it will be one of the best of all time.

Season 1 had a lot of world building which made the pace slow but after watching season 2 it was 100% worth it. Can't wait to see how the next two seasons will go since the Creators clearly have a set vision for the overall plot. My old big dislike is the animation style and how choppy the frame rates were in season 1 (did get better in season 2)

Basically just a 50/50 blend between fairly generic Tolkien/D&D-style MacGuffin-driven elves and dragons and wizards fantasy (a genre I love, so that’s not an insult) and Avatar: The Last Airbender’s structure and tone and look and style and pitch. Definitely enjoyable, though the frame rate was occasionally shaky and confessed to a tight budget.

Sigh... This show is pretty good, I really enjoy watching it. It has a few strong points in terms of world/character building and some unique quirks that make it stand out in the fantasy genre. The problem here is that the complexity and pacing needed for these ideas to really shine often clashes with the superseding simplicity of what is primarily a kids show. It's a good kids show but it often reminds you that it has a hard time being more than that, even when it tries.

Good story with lots of homage to fantasy tropes. Not a fan of the animation style and the choppy frame rate...

The animation's frame rate was so lousy it gave me cancer.
