Well, I felt inadequate after watching this.

A fascinating look at a rather unlikely duo, and the strange, funny, sometimes dangerous paths they took to get to where they are.

The first couple of episodes are great - particularly if you know little about Jimmy Iovine - before things start to lose focus a tad (do we really need all the details about Tupac’s death for the umpteenth time?). There’s subtle but honest glimpses into Dre and his life, filling in the gaps of Straight Outta Compton and bringing you up to date. The whole ‘Beats’ bookends feel like a bit of an afterthought, although it’s nice to confirm they're just an overpriced marketing gimmick.

Packed with interesting information about the beginnings of hip hop and the 'east coast-west coast' war. But also a scarcely hidden advertisement for Dre and Iovine's headphones.
