Hard to separate art from artist, but I know I enjoyed this show when I was a kid.

Who knew serial rapists could be so funny?

It may now be viewed through a darker lens given the shade thrown at the main star, but the show itself featured a very different TV family, gave us a lot of great comedic situations (especially around Theo- when on trial or in the real world). Every character is very intricate and unique.

I don't care about the controversy around Bill Cosby. A show is much bigger than just one person. This series is one of the best parts of my childhood and I love the characters, writing, and humor. This is my favorite family sitcom of all time.

I remember this show as a kid. Bill Cosby is really funny in this. The shows had great stories to them in the episodes. I remember arguing with my British teacher at the time who taught French and Math, that he was saying that Roseanne was better because it was more like her telling the kids off and such. I was like Bill is 1000 times better than her. Which he is.

okay series

I was obsessed with this show for like a minute as a media junkie kid, but outgrew it fast & now the rapey metatextuality has spoiled all that. Alas. There are other shows.

Forget the man himself, this show completely changed the country. I don’t think we eventually have a black president if this show didn’t first demonstrate to some ignorant whites what a real, professional black family looks like.

Amazing show, but sadly unwatchable now

I hated this before it was cool. Except the episode where he teaches Theo about money. And the episode where he finds out Theo has a learning disorder and inspiringly says, "Life will be harder for you than it was for me." like it's Theo's fault, but phrases it very sweetly. And except for Phylicia Rashad who was awesome and carried both his shows.

Just another junky sitcom.

Do I get bonus precognition points because I found this cheesy, unfunny and lame decades before the rapist stuff came out, even when TV critics kept telling me how great it was?

Powerhouse stereotypical family comedy. It set the table for a zillion other shows after it, unfortunately.
