Waltz is hilarious in this surprising script that tailors to his talents perfectly. Something about him running a gamestudio is just outrageously funny, even the way he taps his phone is funny. The story obv stretches credulity but in a fun way- by taking the absurd events for granted without hitting us on the nose with any comedy tropes, a pretty unique and mysterious setting is formed. For once I loved the ending: mysterious but going out with a cool exposé, vaguely similar to Under the Skin

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, the ambience is great and "the devil" is in the details, hehe. On the other, most of the reveals for The Consultant and who he is, are leading to nothing and bring only shock value to the table, if that. The ending is not bad, but it's not good either. The epitome of "meh". Christoph Waltz is great, but the other two leads are insipid.

Pretty much the only reason to watch this series is Waltz's tour de force performance in a nuanced role that seems written specifically for him. The other cardboard characters and, frankly less able actors, hardly ever stand out from the scenery. The plot itself is occasionally interesting but often rather nonsensical in the we-don't-really-know-where-we're-going-with-this twists.

Christoph Waltz delivers a skilled performance as always. And it's interesting enough, the performances and art direction carried the meat of it since the plot lacked any real drama or stakes.

I feel I liked this more than worth an 80-score but that it doesn't deserve more than 80. Waltz was great on this, and the rest of the cast solid as well, but I think I liked this more because I wanted to see more, rather than it being such great quality. I think its style also covered some of the lack in its substance. Nevertheless, the first season was a neat package and I have no major gripes anywhere at all. I'd be very interested in seeing more, although I suspect it'd start to fall apart.
