The number of crazy twists in this story earns the five-episode length and then some. This is a wild true-crime case with a fascinating central figure. The doc serves as a strong character study of Henry Lee Lucas and does well to follow each of the intriguing threads that arise from his confessions.

I can't say I truly blame people for believing Lucas' initial claims, but once the real evidence (and in most cases, lack thereof) came to light, honestly really disappointing that so many law officials would rather hide behind their badges and commit to a very clear lie rather than admit they were deceived. As for Lucas himself, it does beg the question we should all ask: How does one draw a line between guilt and innocence with a man such as this?

One of a number of Netflix crime things from months ago I forgot to rate. Ironically, this one is quite memorable, one of their best. No problem with the length. Won't say it's particularly well-constructed, but this is an absurd, haunting, and, it must be said, darkly funny story, well-told. Tho' a not-minor reason I plowed through in one sitting was because I wanted to hear Jason Hill's music again... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYiQTEzIjf8

Combining two of Netflix's favourite subjects (serial killers and false confessions), I'm surprised they managed to hold themselves down to five relatively punchy episodes here. But if anything you're left wanting more, especially as the list of the real perpetrators continues to rise. A genuinely fascinating story, told well, with a good range of talking heads covering all angles of the investigations.
