The bondage and freedom melodrama is so overdone at this point. Slaves find love. Oh no! They're separated! Oh! They find each other again! Oh no! They're separated again! Oh! They are reunited! Oh! They have a child! Oh, they're separated again! Oh no! The baby dies! Oh wow, they're united again! Oh no, he dies! At least episode 4 brought in some political history dynamics and the creation of the titular book. Wish I'd started with episode 4.
