Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

A group of my friends and I dressed up as TMNT for Halloween one year when I was living in New York City (I was Michaelangelo). I carried a box of pizza around all night, handing out slices to everybody that asked for one. Every time, they were shocked that I actually had real pizza. I think I went through about 8 pies that night. Best money I've ever spent. Point is, I'm pretty cool.

The 80's were all about ninjas. If your movie or tv show didn't have a ninja, you were laughed at and beaten in the streets. Rom Com? Fuck it, throw a ninja in there. Happy Days? What do you think the Fonz was? How else would he be able to jump over a shark on water skis if he wasn't a ninja? Pretty sure Betty White was also a ninja in The Golden Girls. The Donger from Sixteen Candles...definitely a ninja. If you were cool, you had ninjas. How could I not like this cartoon at 9 years old?

This is a great show. So 80s and this is good thing for me.

Probably doesn't hold up as an adult, but having nostalgia from being a kid.

This was a good series. It actually had a story to it for the first 5-6 episodes I would say, then like everything else it just goes all over the place. April O Neil was my fav in this show along with shredder. Sure I liked the turtles but I felt that the bad guy of this series was more compelling as a kid.

S1 66. woulda been closer to 70 without the neutrinos lol. and they start doing bad random saturday morning cartoon episodes in S2. i just wanna see the fly lol

Despite so many reincarnations, nothing good ever came out of the TMNT idea (even the comic book is quite stupid, though well drawn). But the characters are visually grabbing, and I think THIS is the real origin of it's success. If I had to choose a decorative pop-culture element for my appartement I would choose a TMNT poster/statue over any faggy super hero.

I really, really, really, really, passionately, madly, insanely loved this show when I was about 4 years old. Action figures, t-shirts, lunchbox, video games, Halloween costume, pretend playing it with other kids - I was well and truly obsessed. Watching it more recently, I recognize that it's not very good. Nostalgia, though, man.

Never understood their motivation, never found them funny and always thought the baddies were really rubbish.

Enjoyable for its nostalgia factor and oddball characters and plots, it doesn't hold up for viewing as an adult. Still. This became a part of our culture.

Even when I was a kid and the TMNT fad was mandatory, I found this unwatchable.

Nostalgia flows but its quite poorly animated. The voice acting is above average but the plot is laughable and it wears quickly.
