some genuine bops in this one. I wish I would have had this when I was a kid, and not just because then I'd know better than to call it a bop. that's behind the times now, right? I'm uncool but this isn't, is what I'm saying

Significantly less focused than SU usually is, but at the same time, full of that same really intense emotional honesty, engaged with trauma, vulnerability, recovery and growth in a way that kids absolutely need to see. Also, I love Spinel.

I've put off doing this one for years because I never watched the TV-series, but since I've decided to do a few of these feature film spin-offs of TV-shows, I decided to have a go. And it was a good time, even without truly understanding every reference in there, and not really being a bunch-of-songs-in-movies type of guy. I liked the characters and I liked the humor. Sure I'd like it even more had I been more acquainted with the series.

absolutely beautiful, amazing animation for the villian spinel, some good songs too. the story has the classic steven universe charm but doesn't come off quite as strong and cohesive to me

Felt like a Disney audition at points. Rebecca Sugar crafts a beautiful and amazing movie that is easy to forget is made for TV. The songs are great, the story is heartfelt, and the animation is great.
