I'm a sucker for all things Superman, so my score is probably higher than it should be. If you skip the filler episodes - which is admittedly about half of them - this is a decent show with some really cool moments. Lex and Lionel Luthor are definitely the MVPs.

The tale of a promising football player's career going down the drain for second rate journalism.

I absolutely hated the Freak of the Week angle throughout 75% of the series. It's like, how much fucking Kryptonite landed on Earth to give so many people powers?!! And why are they all bad? The true reason to watch the show was the dynamic between Clark and Lex. Sure it turned the mythos on it's head by having them be friends, but it worked and was interesting. I remember people hating on Lois once she arrived, but her chemistry with Clark was the only thing that saved season 4 for me.

Smallville has a lot of monster-of-the-week filler, but at 20+ episodes per season this was to be expected. Admittedly a mixed bag, but one that's whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The cast makes up for a lack of acting ability with enough charm. Rosenbaum's Lex is the most compelling version I've seen to date. Kreuk was major crush material. Getting to the precursor of the Justice League was fun to see. I was also the prime age for the CW-type drama.

An iconic example of a show that just ran TOO DAMN LONG, becoming just hard to maintain any interest in by the end. But it's a nice little grilled cheese sandwich/warm cocoa of a show in its early seasons, safe but almost always fun and pleasant. Michael Rosenbaum is terrific as Lex Luthor.

The obvious shoe string budget, the terrible acting, the side characters no one cares about...it's just a mess of a show. It looks like crap and Superman is just not that interesting of a character to justify such a long run time, you get it after a few episodes. It keeps your interest for like half a season but it just becomes dreadfully boring. Never understood the Superman hype

It's cheesy and melodramatic and full of teen angst, but its premise lended itself perfectly for continuing episodes with little explanation and Welling pulls off the odd combination of earnestness and angst a teenage God should have. It went on too long, and god dammit fly already.

While there's some corniness with this show, being of the CW and all, and it dips in quality in some parts around the middle IIRC, there's still a ton to love about this show. Michael Rosenbaum as Lex being the obvious standout performance, but I also thought Erica Durance was my favorite Lois Lane, and there are a bunch of great performances and solid stories. My main complaint of course is how afraid they were to just lean into the Superman identity.

Good series. Was really awful after Season 5. They went all over the place with their story lines. Worst character development, Storylines and just the inconsistencies. Worst ending to a show I have ever seen in my life on any show with an ending.

First 3 seasons start off strong. 4th season starts a slight decline. 5th season keeps pace with 4th but 6th and 7th start a severe decline. Characters are what drive the show but the plots start getting repetitive and thin with the characters making the same tired mistakes. Every once and a while you see a great episode to remind you why you still watch. But it gets campier and campier. Watch if you love the superman mythos and DC in general otherwise, don't bother.

S1 like 77 but ended 85s. S2 was like 85s til mid then 70s- then end 80s. S3 some 80 few 85 some 70+ so far. mostly becomes 70 or less, some +. they make lana too gross, her and lex leaving kinda ruins the show along with the justice teams stuff. probably the most inconsistent show i still love. didn't set up/develop lois romance enough on screen. disappointed no darkseid kinda ruined last season for me so gotta rewatch. doomsday started surprisingly great

Started off as nice idea, but quickly became unwatchble turgid rubbish that seemed to last forever.
