The best soap opera ever. I mean yeah we have to admit it, it's a soap opera, as structure, as narrative, as topics, as plot-twists; but its dark humour, its perfect character drawing, sets it apart from the general family drama /soap opera. Basically, it's wonderfully written, and left me at the end crying like a baby. It tell you about life so sincerely, and it made me think about my life as no other tv series / movie did.

Six Feet Under cut the ground under my feet so often that I lost counting. They built stories in the way no one else did. Always something new.

At times it ranges into the melodramatic and silly, but there are so many moments of emotional clarity and realism that it usually is a wash in the end. A strong talented cast and good writing for the most part, although detractors will say not enough happens, in the end, this is simply a character drama and any long range story lines are in the backseat.

An overrated show but for some reason I kept watching the next episodes religiously.Never lives up to the legend that it creates and is remembered for having one of the greatest endings to a television show. It was a great ending but it's only great in the context of the show and unfortunately you have to watch like 100 hours of stuff before seeing how it ends. I love the show for introducing us to Michael C Hall but if you can watch something else do it, bc Alan Ball doesn't make very good shit

‘24 rewatch. The comedy oscillates between cringy and really funny but slacks off after season 2 where the storylines also grow pretty repetitive and a bit stale. Its obsession with sex was maybe courageous back in the day but a little ridiculous now. As a 40 year old, SFU appears to be not even half as deep as i perceived it when i was 20. Love Claire though, by far my favorite character now and almost constantly funny. Ending still rocks.

Acting is decent, and the themes/situations explored are rare and interesting. However, characters are inconsistent, and are shitty enough that they start losing relatability.

With a background in the death care industry, I can anonymously confirm that this ain’t very far flung from reality in many cases. I wildly loved the first season, but as time wore on, characters started making decisions in violation of their value systems seemingly just to manufacture drama, and it felt contrived, forced. Still, I wonder if it gets better & many of the characters still live in my heart. Maybe I’ll finish it & update this review someday.

Only saw almost the first episode. One has to be more insensitive than me to enjoy this series. If I was in my most cynical mood, maybe.

Gets a little ridiculous and forced in later seasons, but the highs are really high and the lows aren't too low. Give it a watch!

"That's My Dog" and the...conclusion of that plot oddly got me through a tough time in my life.

SFU is a soap opera that serves up messages about the finality and abruptness of death, that most people take life and each other for granted, and that to be human is to be flawed. Some scenes that deal with these are fantastic, as is the end run of 3/4 episodes (though the famous finale montage I found cloying). M.C.H. & Lauren Ambrose are consistently great, but as it IS a soap opera so much of it is hysterical melodrama - especially Nate & Ruth, who are so wildly inconsistent it's comical.

This series took my breath away more than once. I cannot recall a show that impacted me as much emotionally as this one has. by the time the ending rolled around I was bawling my eyes out. This show hits you in the feels hard and then keeps punching you in the face over and over and over again. The characters in the show feel very grounded, very real. Theyre all flawed in various ways. This show made me reflect on my own family and relationships. cant recommend enough.

Created by the obscenely talented Alan Ball, Six Feet Under boasts some of the most complex characters ever written, some of the most creative storytelling in television, and what is almost certainly the greatest series finale to any television series, so it's more than forgiven for its flaws.

A good but not great show. I thought the ending was sappy and unfulfilling. That said I haven't seen the show for a decade so who knows what garbage lies in my memory.

it's ok, it's worth a watch and verges on 'good' but after six hours I realised that dedicating another umpteen hours to get through all those seasons was time better spent doing something else. As for my PSI - it reckoned this would be right up there with the best thing I had ever seen - come off it dudes!

Hoo boy. About as close to perfection as possible for me. Some truly powerful storytelling here, replete with ridiculously synergetic performances and focused direction. Tremendous.

It's a tough thing when you fall out of love with a show. I watched 3½ seasons of this back when I was in high school and had way too much time on my hands and became increasingly bored and frustrated as the series went on. It goes back to the Daniel Kahneman thing: I recall the many heights of the series (the unexpected backstory of Rachel Griffiths' character, the Christmas episode with the motorbike, Lauren Ambrose making out with Mena Suvari), but I can't forget how sick of it I became.

This show sucked me in and never let me go. I hated half the characters, but the other half was so interesting that it kept me watching. I rewatched the show some years later and it was just as good as I remembered it. And that ending, shit would shatter anyone's heart.
