I guess I would have to pick this as the best TV comedy of 2015. It's one of the few comedies I would call genuinely well-plotted, with stakes and twists and tension and reveals and cliffhangers - but all without ever losing sight of being just fucking hilarious, filled with one-liners and punchlines that had me roaring. Kudos to Mike Judge. That guy fucks, am I right? If this show gets better from S2 in S3 it may officially become the best TV comedy since Community's peak.

Really, really funny. Each of the main characters is funny in his own way. I was a big fan of the addition of Russ. The one knock against the show is that every single episode presents some do or die moment for the company, which just feels a little ridiculous.

Despite the show becoming increasingly formulaic in its plotting, there’s hard laughs to be had. Show took a hit when Erlich left the cast but the core group remains great. Jared Big Head and Gillfoyle are all-timers. The secondary characters.. (Belson, Laurie) not so much. Surprisingly tasteful finale and last scene, showing that the talent was there to make this a comedy classic if there would have been a bit more artistic ambition

Despite the storyline being pretty binary (0 = Pied Piper is going down, 1 = Pied Piper is back in business) this show is a lot of fun. A solid 15 points, maybe even 20 added to my rating because of Jared Dunn. I now consider myself a hardcore Zach Woods fan, altho the chemistry of the whole cast is remarkable. Maybe the most inspired episode of all, story-wise, is the series finale. Creative ending!

The shows concept is really interesting to me and there are some good parts. I liked the more series bits about how startups actually function but I would definitely consider this worth watching if it wasn't for TJ Miller's character. His entire character is unfunny, obnoxious, sexist, racist, and disgusting. I despise his character and gave up after the 3rd season as every episode was made worse by his addition.

Turns out that The Social Network works just as well as a (more overt) comedy. Deserves credit, I suppose, for making people who are literally destroying the world kind of endearing.

It's one of the best comedies on TV right now, pushing the rigid realism and subtle observational comedy of Office Space even further with characters who are believably pathetic and jokes that are incredibly strong considering the context in which they have to fit. Zach Woods is a particular stand-out -- I noticed him first in Kroll Show and wondered why I hadn't seen him anywhere else, only to then watch this show and see the promise of his talent immediately fulfilled.

Wasn't sure I'd like this and the stuttering first season almost lost me initially but picks up in the later episodes. However from Season 2 through Season 5 the writing, tech humour and satire, and character development and performances really find their groove making SV one of the recent TV greats. The final season seems a little rushed in comparison and while the final episode itself ends arguably inevitably and perfectly for the series, I would have preferred they took a different direction.

Good 1st season when it's plucky underdogs trying to find a place in Silicon Valley. Deteriorates later when everyone is an asshole who I want to fail. Also the constant flipping from incredible success to urgent crisis, undoing every resolution they just wrapped up, is a bit annoying. The best storylines were Erlich always failing, Jian-Yang always getting besting him and Big Head stumbling into unwarranted success but by season 5 they were all gone and no one was left to root for.

Excellent show. I recently binged the whole series and I was laughing out loud pretty consistently throughout the show. I think it did dip a bit when TJ Miller left the show, but was still overall pretty solid. It's pretty impressive how they were able to simultaneously mock the tech industry, while also getting so much of it accurate at the same time.

Smart, nerdy, well acted and well written it relies heavily on the cast to make long winded jokes that only patient people will appreciate. It develops the story and doesn't search to build the story around the punchline which a lot of comedies settle for. This once again creates in the centre of a core set of characters who trials and tribulations actually mean something. All of that compacted into 8 to 10 episode seasons makes for damn good comedy and television.

Silicon Valley is punishingly cringeworthy but benefits from being consistently funny. Each season peaks near the end, leaving you on a cliffhanger want just a bit more. While the ensemble cast makes the show work, I can't really say I miss Miller that much, plus Yang makes up for the douchebaggery. Luckily the show is ending after the (yet-to-air) 6th season, so hopefully it won't overstay its welcome.

The first two seasons were funny. I know I watched the third but I don't remember anything about it, except how it made me feel: bored and sad. I haven't watched the rest of it but I can't imagine it's returned to its initial greatness so I'm not going to bother. This is all to say: watch the first two seasons, then move on.

Newp, sorry. Funny how Criticker assigns an 89 PSI for this, but it's not taking into account how utterly bored I am of shows like these. Did the world need another story about self-involved man baby asshats? I think not. I only watched the first season but it was more than enough for me.

W4E2P2S2M1V1A1R2. About halfway through, and loving it. Have always hated Middleditch in those annoying Verizon commercials and the show does nothing to save him from my loathing, but the rest of the cast is superb. Feels like a semi-educational version of The Office, and that's not overstating its brilliance.

Season 5: I'm a big fan of this show. Seaon 5 did a good job of moving the story on, Pied Piper had to either grow or die. Very up-to-date episodes relating to cryptocurrency, data privacy... but it's not dry at all. Every episode is full of great jokes. Jared's horrific back-story seems to know no depths. Martin Starr as Gilfoyle came to the fore this season, and that's a good move.

Really amusing satire that throws barbs at the tech industry, the male dominated programming world, and the money obsessed venture capitalists that profit off of it. TJ Miller's character as a wannabe Steve Jobs that's held back by his laziness and addiction to pot is probably the highlight. Richard Hendricks is also great as an anti-social computer nerd that's way in over his head.

It's fantastic for the first couple of seasons but some time after that you will definitely think it's spinning its wheels, recycling the wheel of: disaster - wacky hijinks - Richard has a moment of divine inspiration - success. It depends on how much you like the cast as to whether this is a problem.

My score on it's own values/filmmaking used to be 65 due to repetetive cycle of events and rather formulaic happenstances. But on irl observational stances, it proved in time how much I keep referencing it over the years and how on point it has been about the tech cult. It's more important than a mere fun comedy show.
