Why why wwHHYYY is it like this? I get that Saved by the Bell's appeal was always kitsch & ironic. But they still had an undeniably iconic theme song and recognizable characters / settings to work with and did... THIS with it. Take a flamethrower to this whole trend of followups and reboots that have to satirize / criticize / commentate on their source material, burn it all. Miraculous that Cobra Kai turned out good as it did; in these hands they'd have made a lulzy ironic parody of Karate Kid.
