I'm really not a fan of woke stand-up, or even anti-woke stand-up like this that keeps making references to itself. And with that said, this is still a consistently funny and sometimes hilarious show, with Gervais packing quite a few great jokes, punchlines, and scenarios, even when he's awkwardly back-pedalling, which I would say is also needless if there weren't more great jokes within them.

A bit of a borefest really. Gervais appears quite fixated on comedy-related issues but has apparently forgotten to actually do comedy. You could count the good jokes on one hand, and the rest is throwaway, second rate material at best, the kind you'd consider silly banter on a night out with friends and not part of a show. Somewhere between proudly recounting his snappy Twitter replies and rehashing jokes about topics he's already exhausted in the past, this is Gervais going through the motions.

Welcome back Ricky Gervais. Just what I needed a good laugh and for you to not give a fuck about who you offend to entertain. Thanks for calling out bullshit and hypocrisy.

Very disappointed, boring material. Poor quality performance from a good comedian.

More like a diluted retake of Humanity. A dish might sometimes benefit from a reheat but I don’t particularly enjoy hearing the same jokes twice. And yet, Gervais is heads above most of his contemporaries that play it safe. Comedy should be the last sanctuary from wokeness and that Gervais delivers.

I’d seen this tour live back before the pandemic, and that might explain why this particular recording didn’t make me laugh as much as I was expecting. It seems a little shorter with a few gags missing, but it might just be that I’d heard them all before. He makes great anti-woke points throughout, accompanying some with top jokes, but I just remember it being even funnier in person.

Ricky comes off as a bit predictable, but it's a solid set.

Not great, but overall enjoyable enough. Doesn't seem very new or innovative, just the same old Ricky Gervais. Uninspired.

It's a little slow, but there are some great bits. Gervais has always been a transgressive comedian, so I think anybody should know what to expect going into this.

Some funny parts and a few flat spots. After a while his giggling at himself starts to grate.

If you like Ricky Gervais...you'll like this. If you're trans...you won't.

It just wasn't very good. I found his interviews promoting the special to be funnier. It was relatively entertaining, but I never laughter, nor giggled. Just mediocre.

Ricky's comedy without Stephen Merchant and/or Karl Pilkington is sometimes unbearable. Same stale topics all the time. "How comedy works, I'm so rich, I believe in science, atheism", etc.

Ricky’s attempts to reflect on and dissect the stand-up medium are not particularly successful; other comedians are out there doing that much better. That said this was funny and may be some of Gervais’ best work since The Office, even if he is starting to give off the increasing vibe of an old man confused at the world around him.
