Disappointing from Gervais, whose quality decline stems from how he can't mediate his thoughts on anti-woke culture in a meaningful or amusing way. He can now indulge in the laziest gags and punchlines from the ridiculousness of modern culture, yet he himself is at his most ridiculous when he's being serious, denouncing proselytising at the start and then resorting to proselytising at the end (anti-woke Atheist vegan celebrity is a bad personality combo).

I love Gervais but this is just sort of old hat. He's been-there and done-that with all of these jokes. The template for genius is still here but the ingredients he used for the recipe are subpar in this outing.

Rather underwhelming just like its predecessor, "Armageddon" has a handful of really funny moments, including some of the act-outs, but is plagued by long unfunny stretches. Gervais continues the trend of recounting snappy replies of his from his personal or online life and arguably overplays the whole meta aspect (with the exception of the baby with AIDS bit, which is a different brand of meta anyways), however the biggest drawback is that even his "edgy" jokes rarely feel refreshing or biting.

Same material as it has been in the last zillion years. Any Ricky stand-up in a nutshell: "Ahhh by the way, I'm an atheist, and also dogs are great and there are 55 billion animal species. Oh, Hitler, haha. I'll get cancelled for this, right? Remember, it's just a joke, I don't care. Let me explain how jokes work. Oh, did I tell you I am very rich and successful? Here is a word, cunt. These are all jokes by the way. Hmm, god sucks. Animals should rule the world. Thank you" Absolute rubbish

Some very funny parts, but perhaps nothing terribly new or different.

A good chunk of the material is low hanging fruit. But I got some laughs.

He admits at the start that some jokes are unfinished, what he doesn’t state is this work-in-progress is recounting Twitter spats and dredging up old material from his first few shows. I did laugh at times, but the gaps between these giggles become chasms as you realise he’s just phoning it in for this one. Easily Gervais’ laziest, weakest stand-up yet and one that probably should never have been released in the first place.

Nothing special with a sprinkling of solid bits at best. Gervais is so far beyond the point of any intelligent satire or commentary here it’s embarrassing.

Seems far more frantic and scattershot than Gervais’ previous live shows – a necessary disclaimer I think is that Gervais’ confrontational and no-holds-barred style of comedy is a welcome salve to the prudency of the current social climate, but he just seems to be repeating himself here, with many of his punchlines failing to land the crippling blows that he seems to be aiming for. Enough good material (and a couple of gut-busters) which definitely makes it worthwhile for fans.
