ReMastered: Devil at the Crossroads

There's a couple of problems with this film. 1. Robert Johnson died very young and very little is known about him. 2. He's a figure that musicians seem to not be very specific about. Lots of folks line up to say he was a big influence, but they have not much to say. So, this seems very very light on material. There's a lot of material on what the lifestyle of a blues musician would have been like in Johnson's day, which is interesting, but not really about him.

Empty & rushed half-movie that boils down to a lethargic repetition of the commonly known myth & an admission that almost nothing beyond that is known. Instead of building something interesting from that or exploring the depth of the music the film settles for spouting the standard platitudes & calling it a wrap after 40 mins. If this sparks anyone's interest in Johnson I'm happy but considerring the perfunctory presentation that seems unlikely. Not exactly bad but disappointing waste of time.
