Interest in each episode flags once the murder is committed - following Lyonne with her "ehs" and "ahs" to the inevitable comeuppance amounts to dramatic stalling, no matter how interesting the role players are. My high point was Ep4, the punk band story, with Sevigny and an equally great new face in the drummer role. Since then I'm hoping for the return of the throughline, but alas, it's just retro chic and weak writing.

Running into Charlie on her little road trip will either leave you murdered or make you a murderer. Avoid her at all costs. As for the series, it's pretty likeable but the episode structure can feel a bit repetitive. A good start that will hopefully evolve with future seasons.

It starts off really strong. The retro vibe is done really well and the "mysteries," such as they are, are a unique spin on the genre. But the season story arc was ho-hum and the mechanics of each mystery grow increasingly contrived over the course of the first season.

Kind of charming and i can see what they're going for but the murder-of-the-week format dictates how stories play out and it makes for some farfetched character behavior. Not good escapism for me if i know the story will end within an hour.

Very much surface, lazy writing. Rian Johnson is overrated.

The Colombo structure works but most of the episodes are merely solid time fillers rather than showstoppers. The Johnson-directed episode 9, though, is the exception. It's one of the best hours of television in quite a while.

This is a situation where if you rated each episode standalone, I would give this a higher rating. But Charlie is just not that exciting a character to watch over and over with essentially the same not that exciting story. 7 eps in and I'm not sure it is worth continuing as I am sure this is not getting better than it is.

Her bölümünde Lyonne'dan başka A yıldız oyuncuları görmemiz de cabası. Bu haliyle Rian Johnson'un 80ler evreninde geçen Midwest Knives Out'u diyebiliriz. Son olarak Natasha Lyonne'un sesi Hollywood'un en karizmatik sesi.

Trying to find that piece of work in her history that justifies Lyeonne still being able to be on a TV show let alone lead one. I can't find it. Flop after flop. She hasn't touched anything I've found bareable. Like Amy Schumer and Andrew Dice Clay had a love child, and I hate everything about it.

It was very entertaining for awhile but becomes redundant after awhile

Quite good but bored after a couple of episodes. Mixed feelings about the lead actor and their voice

Natasha Lyonne is the heart of this series and breathes life into every scene of equal parts comedy and murder. I get that Rian Johnson is paying homage to the "murder of the week" type crime show, but a few of the episodes are a bit hit or miss. The real star of the series is Lyonne's character's flight from corrupt casino owners and the little bits we learn of her backstory throughout every episode.

Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne have created something special here. I think without Natasha Lyonne in this role, it wouldn't work. The structure is strange, allowing the audience to basically know everything about the crime before it's solved, but you just don't care, because watching Charlie figure it out is just so dang entertaining. I look forward to seeing more of this show!

A sometimes clever series of almost stand alone murder mysteries plays really well. The talented guest cast are able to humanize most of the stories sufficiently for an hour formula. Lyonne's Charlie is charming enough. I felt the overall story was a bit weak and an afterthought most of the time. I will watch a second season if there is one.

This was the best thing I've seen from Rian Johnson, I knew he had it in him. I hate this type of episodic structure, but he is able to create so much intimacy along the way with help of Natasha's "I've seen it all" vibe (she really did, see her biography) it doesn't matter. Each episode was joyous. The last one though...Looking forward to more and hoping it gets a long term coherent structure.

I warmed to this reboot of Columbo once I got what they were trying to do. It is lightweight but has loads of charm. Sometimes it is enough to wallow in everything that made the 70s great.
