Pokémon

One of those shows that loses all its appeal once puberty kicks in. Hopefully.

Impossible to rate. Anything from a 0 to 100 is acceptable. PETA\'s critique is legitimate. Will forever be ruined by childhood nostalgia. A few things: 1) Pikachu needs to stop being a coward and evolve into a motherfucking Raichu. 2) If all of the world\'s animals are Pokemon, what the hell is it that the characters are eating during the show? 3) One gets the impression the creators watched a cock fight and thought \"Hmm, how can we make this 100x more psychedelic and absurd?\"

the original opening credits (unironically) remains the most beautifully constructed in TV history. i wrote a pokémon novel as a kid and all the chapter titles turned out to be innuendos ('rock hard brock', 'misty's little secret', etc). from what i've seen the show may have got more interesting over the years - i caught a really haunting ep about loss and overcoming grief, and another where team rocket were melancholically and satirically ruminating on their own place in the pokémon pantheon.

what\'s the point of even rating this. it is what it is.

Whelp. Still manages to make my grown-ass cry. Like it or hate it, the concept for the games/TV series was something new and unique. It may not have been the first to invent monster collecting, but it certainly popularized it.

It dragged on for far, far too long, took a cute adventurous concept and made it stale.

I was way too old for this too be nostalgic so basing it on the fact that its a sort of well made cock fighting cartoon.

Hard for me to rate, as it\'s tied into overpowering, monstrous childhood nostalgia. I\'ll say this: It would have a better rating if it either, 1, ended after the Indigo League (the first 80 episodes), or 2, actually aged Ash and evolved (pun intended?) as it went on. But unfortunately it dragged on doing the same thing for hundreds and hundreds too many episodes, and is still dragging on today. My score should be lower, really, but dem nostalgia points, baby!

So bad

This was probably one of my favorite shows growing up, and I still think the games and even the Adventures manga are great, but this show was dreadful. Not only did the show often ignore the logic established by the games and even other mediums like the manga, Ash was also a really crappy protagonist and episodes were often really lame and uneventful.Ash never ages nor does his accomplishments feel meaningful since often times they tend to be something really contrived or pulled out of their ass
