[distant, as aired] I remember it was -despite being quite literary- conventionally self-helpy, more soundbites than systems but pleasant enough.

I think djross is a little hard on this. I don't think it's intended for Doctors of Philosophy, but for people who can enjoy a window into the different methods of thought and to get a glimpse of the literature available. I've seen the seven vids a few times (they're available on Google Video), they always refresh an "aha" moment. It's also quite rare to find an easy to understand/semi-working method of Epicureanism sans the confusing semantics of materialism. Oh, and Alain de Botton is lovely.

May be of some interest, but generally prefers a superficial and self-congratulatory approach. Or, in other words, an approach which is insufficiently philosophical.
