Persuasion

I liked Sally Hawkins and the indie feel with handheld camera, but it went a little too extreme at the end.

Sally Hawkins is absolutely wonderful as the refined and sweet Miss Anne Elliot. Rupert Penry-Jones is also good. There is a lot of pompous pretense and a rigid social etiquette, but an engaging story emerges. Music and production quality is good. Some characters are annoying by design. The twists and turns in the love story are a constant emotional roller coaster of heartbreak, despair and hope. This version is better than the 1995 movie treatment. Emotionally engaging and very entertaining.

In terms of getting the Jane Austen vibe between all the characters, it was great. However, there were some major flaws in this production.

One of my favorites, book was better in most ways, but that's how it usually is. Good movie.
