This is the second Theroux documentary I've seen and like the other one it wasn't very insightful or eye opening but it was entertaining and easy to watch. That old woman was a disgusting human being. So glad that I don't gamble, what a bunch of morons.

Not Louis' best subject of examination. Even though I don't gamble myself I don't really consider it outside the mainstream and the concept of "high-rollers" losing tons of money isn't an alien concept like some of Louis' other interviewees. Still he meets up with some very colourful characters which make for, if nothing else, an entertaining documentary, especially if you're a Theroux fan.

That look of defeat the one guy gives after leaving the table and Louis and the other guy go on a winning streak. Just eat it up with a spoon. Love watching gamblers lose their minds.

This one won't tell you much you don't already know, but it gives a nice look at the true irrationality of those who gamble without realizing that it's a losing proposition. When probed, people will often cop to the fact that they're not likely to win, but they'll stop one step short of admitting that they're being irrational. It is of course a complete failure of deduction to think you can win at roulette. If you could win at it in the long run, the casino wouldn't be letting you do it.

Fun to watch these "enthusiasts" in their money-gobbling hobby, with Theroux acting trepidatious as usual with exposing this doco's subject matter for the awfulness it is. Out of all the folks in this, the person I felt most sorry for (and judged the most) was the old woman's son, who seemed far too content watching her waste away his inheritance -- uggh.

Felt similar about these gamblers as I did with nazis in Louis and the Nazis.

That old lady made me so angry, and to see her son resigned to such an unnecessary fate was heartbreaking. Classic Louis.

Gambling is one of the most stupid things in life. These people denying they are addicted, it's kind of sad. I like Louis' dry approach and trying it himself. And damn, that lady losing 4 million in 7 years and still saying she can quit any time.. What a shame

could be an interesting look at gambling addiction, but it seems content to just wallow in its own sadness.

Low on insight, high on watchability. There's something about this dry brit being tossed into the most decadent of cities that kept me watching & enjoying.

As a poker player, I can say one thing - these people are sick! They should find a better pastime activity, and use their money on something better. Not very informative, because it just confirms the saying that gambling is an addiction. But it was interesting to see the people who are loosing all that money and their views.

While not as interesting as some of his other pieces, Gambling was the one that made me the most angry with the excessive debauchery of it all.

Not a lot of surprises in this one.
