why would you try to build tension around a murder mystery, when you already gave away its conclusion in the title? how is this pathetic mess even a movie? what a laughable attempt at filmmaking, christina ricci must come pretty cheap these days. and the black keys as score to a 19th century setting? drugs can't even remotely take you there, you gotta be pretty dense to make something like this.

Creepy, but boring. If you've read the synopsis then you've seen the movie, and you didn't even have to hear the jarringly ill-fitting music.

It is not a great great great movie but it is not boring and has its quality and mystery that I was searching for.

Such a slow burn, one could be forgiven for falling asleep. Not visually stunning, but true to the period; and that is about the best thing it has going for it. Plodding and predictable, this sleeper convinced me to skip the series that followed.
