Let It Shine

Cyrano de Bergerac retold as a hip-hop/teen pop mashup musical fable about confidence and self-acceptance. Take it for what it is and there's a lot to appreciate here. The cartoon-like tone and style that's always been a hallmark of Disney channel movies works better than usual here and the musical side of it is clever and modern-feeling. A lot (not all) of the actors do a good job imbuing their characters with that sense of cartoony modernism. Better than the similar Pitch Perfect probably.
