A young English naval officer aims to demonstrate a faster route to India via the Mediterranean and Suez, challenging the lengthy voyage around Africa. Accompanied by French explorer Martial de Sassenage, Lieutenant Thomas Waghorn embarks in October 1829 to reach Bombay within three months. A shipping company owner, threatened by their success, dispatches agents to hinder their journey.
