Julius Caesar

I'm a Roman history freak and thus unable to take this movie at face value. It's so inaccurate that it's unwatchable. I knew we were in trouble when Sulla died of a heart attack for no reason during a crazy, megalomaniacal speech. In reality, Sulla became master of Rome and then relinquished power, which Caesar always said was a mistake. THAT'S INTERESTING ENOUGH, WHY CHANGE THAT? There is no Crassus in this movie, and thus no Triumvirate. That's insane. Only an insane person would do that.

The first hour was really good, then it got rushed and became a historical mish-mash. The picture took up the impossible task of telling the entire story of Caesar's life in just three hours. You can't do that. Caesar's life was full of events. If you include everything in 3 hours then most stories get 5 minutes and then they are over. You need to pick things. Nonetheless, I would still recommend watching the first hour to those who are interested, but you don't need to continue beyond that.

Pretty decent movie. Good, though a bit unfamiliar casting, and probably a good recreation of the life of Julio. The movie is made in memory of Richard Harris, so I guess he during the making of this movie? I dunno.
