The Clinton story helps end it on a high note, but otherwise this set was 'just OK'. Maybe I've been spoiled by Mulaney's George St. Geegland character, making his regular observational humor seem a bit safe and broad here. Still, the guy has a plus 4 Charisma modifier and that stuff goes a long way.

One of the worst comedy sets I've ever seen.

John Mulaney is so, so good. One of my favourite stand-ups working.

Anyone who's heard "Salt & Pepper Diner" can tell you Mulaney's best material is the longer stuff, evident here as fitfully amusing observational "bits" pale next to the involving and detailed story of meeting Bill Clinton that caps off this set.

Mulaney returns after the failure of his sitcom (which, at the risk of appearing contrarian, I enjoyed enormously) with another stand-up special that doesn't hit the same highs as New in Town, perhaps because he strains harder to try to reach them, but is nonetheless highly entertaining throughout. I love that he's expanded the scope of his observational comedy, which formerly seemed boxed in by his relative lack of maturity and life experience, even if the satire is consequently less precise.

I quote this more than anything else he’s ever done and come back to it frequently

Spread thinner than New In Town. Highlights are 'Why buy the cow', the closing Bill Clinton story, and best of all, "Can't you see, Mary? I'm a Duck now."
