Inspector Gadget

On paper, it sound idiotic (and it kind of is), but there's enough cleverness in each episode to keep things entertaining. The best character was undoubtedly Brain, the long-suffering dog who always took the fall for Gadget's idiocy, very much the Gromit of the show.

Most shows before I was born I am completely ignorant to but this must've had some epic run time after it got cancelled as I'm sure I've seen all the episodes. Every episode is basically the same but the lead character is so likable you just want to watch more. Great kids show

The story of a government agent struggling with early stage dementia while his niece, dog & gadgets weave a web of deceit pretending he’s still competent & capable of performing his job. Aka the 2024 presidential election. Spoiler: Penny takes his job. (Also, worth watching for the sidescroller platforming and endless revision of gadgets)

Cool show when I was a kid. I think this show is taken from the Mr. Magoo because it's similar. Gadget is an idiot who gets lucky in capturing the bad guys. The real star in this show is his niece Penny and the dog.

One of my regular staples on Saturday mornings in the 80's. Waking up at 7am, getting my cereal ready and settling in for 5 hours of cartoons.

Warm memories.

Formulaic, so once you've seen a handful of episodes, you've exhausted the appeal. Still, the formula is entertaining... and to this day I still quote 'Next time, Gadget, next time' whenever anyone makes a banal threat. Worth a look, not worth a start to finish watch.

I remember watching a fair amount of it as a kid (along with DuckTales, TMNT, etc.). I tried watching it on Hulu last year and couldn't even get through a single episode. But still, I guess I can't just skewer it to death, because kid me (aka the actual audience) DID enjoy it.

Did nothing for me as a young man.

Should be worse than it is, but a good setup and cast help keep it floating.
