I May Destroy You

Great show about multiple disagreeable characters. It's quite hard to like anyone but Kwame and whatever Arabella's roomie was called, but that's what's giving the show a strong sense of reality. The show does meander a bit, and it could have done with tighter focus, but it's still a great exploration of contemporary relationships, be it personal, societal or professional.

Subtly hilarious though almost every joke has pain under the surface. It's also not as hopeless as the premise of such a dark and brutal subject of rape (or consent) might seem. Whether it's crime, cruelty, ethics, etiquette, bigotry - the show tackles every character, every action, every thought with nuance that is only possible from someone coming from a place of radical empathy and love. The surreal beauty in the mind of a unique artist.

Well performed, relevant and compelling.

Exactly the type of nuanced, conflicted examination that a subject of this gravity deserves. It's fragmented, uneven, and somehow it all works.

Really unusual, sometimes funny, sometimes moving, incredibly nuanced in places that are unexpected. Really critical of the wokerati, somewhat critical of some #metoo sloganeering, ambivalent about competing claims of race and gender and class. Really impressive and also quite weird.

First season starts out interesting but ends a big mess.
