Rinse and repeat story telling made enjoyable by the excellent Hugh Laurie.

Hugh Laurie probably has the best take on Sherlock Holmes ever in Gregory House. What an amazing character that is the inspiration for a lot of modern TV. Unfortunately there is almost no continuation in the story and you are left with 176 very similar versions of the same story.

It was great, if formulaic for the first 5 seasons or so, but 'House' lost its way terribly over its last few years. I liked many of the characters and they were strong enough to make sticking it out to the end just about worth it.

Rarely does this level of predictability keep me engaged. I enjoyed it, but I would also says its really not that good. If you want some silly melodrama on in the background while you play Sudoku on your phone cause you know Sudoku will take up to much attention for anything the requires any amount of thought, this is a pretty alright-ish kinda choice maybe.

A strong start is almost completely eradicated in a messy silly final few seasons. Laurie (and kudos too him) usually manages to make a complete cocksucker at least charming and interesting enough to not perpetually hate him, and the supporting cast (although usually just cutout characters with pretty weak development) satellite around him accordingly, but after about 60 crazy cases, you start to tap the well a little dry and diving deeper into characters motivations doesn't help here.

an objectively dumb show in a few ways (the high school debate class moral dilemmas, awful acting from every single patient, inherently formulaic premise), but i've watched every ep multiple times and i will again. it's always funny and compelling, but at its best it can also be devastating, even disturbing. when they aren't busy pandering, the people who made this are smart, and house himself - mainly thanks to laurie - may be the most convincing larger-than-life character in TV history.

It’s the prototypical procedural american medical drama, except I don’t hate it. In fact, I’m strangely drawn into watching more episodes. The reason: Hugh Laurie. Writing is generally ok, with the expected amount of cringe. Falls off hard in the later seasons.

Hugh Laurie is great as House but it's the same goddamn show every time and his character's bullshit would not be tolerated. This show gets compared to Sherlock Holmes stories. Sherlock stresses that it is a matter of technique, learnable technique to be a brilliant detective. It's not some superpower of being 'smart.' This is, "He's so smart he can be an asshole." All men are dust.

The show obviously has a repetitive procedural style to it, but somehow that didn't hold it back. Hugh Laurie is just brilliant as House, and the supporting cast is pretty good as well. The show takes the idea of Sherlock Holmes and turns it into a medical drama, and it works really well.

I stopped watching a few episodes into Season 4 as I didn't like the new cast. Up to that point I remember it being really good, Hugh Laurie was perfect in his role.

House M.D. is the first and only Medical Drama you may ever need. It plays more like a workplace comedy mixed with the Sherlock Holmes stories. Which is all well and good considering Greg House is based on the famous detective.

Brilliant for the fast, witty dialogue. Hugh Laurie is consistently good, like the whole series. All the way until the end it never loses its special dynamics (although the last season is a bit weak).

I don't think there is another show for which you can say that "The best episode is the first one of season 6.". There are filler episodes, sure. The medicine was politely dissented but its better than the most and sometimes great. The only problem is that the show is for mature audiences. So, younglings don't find it relatable. I get it. House, Wilson and Cuddy are middle aged. Even the young doctors are not really young. So, if you tried and gave up years ago, give this show another chance.

I came to hate this show because I had a roommate in college who was obsessed with it and watched every single episode on DVD over and over, and all the episodes seemed to follow exactly the same structure. All that said, Hugh Laurie is completely terrific as House. Put a lesser actor in that role and you could easily cut my score in half.

Gregory House, while a great character, unfortunately inspired a half-dozen wannabes in shows that followed. The show was fantastic for the first 4 or 5 seasons, then ran out of ideas.

Hugh Laurie is great and all but there's a limit to how many seasons you can squeeze out of a simple premise. Actually I'm impressed they managed to keep me kinda entertained for 4 or something seasons even though the medical stuff just sounded like nonsense to me. Possibly more so when I had even a vague idea about what they were actually talking about.
