The cast in this part is boring, especially Giorno who is completely lame every fight. The part also brings up some plot beats that don't really go anywhere. What was the point of establishing Gio as Dio's son? What was the point of that rock? Why just drop Fugo like that? I'd probably forgive this more if the fight's and character dynamics were fun, but in that regard, it's inconsistent despite maintaining solid setups, but this just gets rounded off by the most awful finale in the series.

one of the weakest parts of the series, and the adaptation to screen can only do so much. it really feels like Araki goofing off after going all out on Part 4, and it feels like a successor to Stardust Crusaders that's more refined technically but less impactful contextually. the translation of the manga's style is often rigid and off-putting, though it really shines in some bursts of sakuga. Araki misses the forest for the trees here; when he's at his best, he nails both.

The bizarre adventure continues. By now Araki knows his way around a fight, and David Productions' love for Jojo has never been more evident, with all kinds of little positive tweaks here and there. The only negative I have to mention is Araki's steps beyond simple dramatic irony into full-blown subtext are a bit awkward, and lead to some issues (i.e. the rushed ending). But I can't hold that against this too much. After all, what other series decides that men's costumes need boob windows too?
