Watching this last Carlin's stand-up special I got a bit sad. I don't consider him a comedian, I see him as a thinker who's is good at expressing his ideas and thinking process in an accessible, fun way. There are things he has said over his career I don't agree with, or more precisely, I am not so sure about, but he was always good at getting his point across. This is a good show, not his best, not his worst, but sadly, last. Hats off, or should I say hats optional, for George K.

And while all this is going on, you're searching through your mind for something graceful and diplomatic you can say to bring the conversation to a close. And all I can ever come up with is SHUT THE FUCK UP! SHUT THE FUCK UP! SHUT THE FUCK UP! SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Insightful comedy into death and religion, though the comedy is also quite perverse and overacted and it's a bit too much sometimes. It's partially to convey the point more and the absurdity of what he's criticizing, but it's a bit too much in my opinion. The set is also insightful into society's weird social norms and expectations. Overall, it's funny but inconsistent.

Seen: 2. He got better with age. This is his finest and most polished special.

At times roaringly funny set from Carlin is balanced by a poignant undertone - clearly an older man, and noticeably frail at times (especially initially), once he gets going, it's clear he is still an unstoppable firebrand, an "old fuck" with plenty of fire left in him. As with his other concert "films", you certainly don't go for cinematic wizardry, but does the job of capturing him simply and in full flight.

Carlin lives... no he doesn't, he's dead, but through the miracle of DVD, you can still laugh at his comic genius. I'm sure he's looking up at us from hell and sayin 'Fuck you all!'

Doesn't work that well in the beginning when he tries to be an ordinary comedian but gets going in the latter half.
