Gentleman Jack

After the first episode I was in two minds whether to watch this; too soon after Fleabag to break the 4th wall AGAIN, I thought!. I am SO glad I did. As this was the story from Anne Lister's personal diary, she had every right to address the audience in that way, and in any case, it was used sparingly and VERY effectively. I have to give Suranne Jones special mention. She was absolutely brilliant as the eponymous "Jack", as were her co-stars, the excellent music, and fantastic script. Brilliant

Probs unfair to rate after only the first episode but life is short and I've simply watched and have too much TV to watch to persist with a show that bores me so thoroughly in the first hour
