This viewpoint is quite interesting, there are not too many movies which show it from the perspective of the Germans in WW2. Besides some obvious cliches this is still a good watch. Recommended if you are a history buff.

Good, unusual to see it from the German side. Likeable characters. Lovingly shot. Appears to be based on a true story. Some have said that it's unrealistic for them to bump into each other, but in reality people from the same town would have crossed paths, maybe closer to home, but in the same way, with changing roles and fortunes. A sobering depiction of what war does to people's lifes, here a young generation

Really enjoyable for a telefilm but too much easy plot and stretch in the story

I enjoyed this 3-part telefilm. Getting to understand the German perspective was particularly appealing to me. Overall, the actors gave convincing performances, especially the Winter brothers: Volker Bruch & Tom Schilling, the rest of the characters weren't very well written. The costumes and special effects were really good for a ZDF show. But the ending felt forced, unnatural and just plain unrealistic.

While this is worth seeing, I found the series as a whole made too many questionable choices in plotting the different story arcs to earn a top score.

War is a terrible thing. Not a bad series but the crossing of paths happened a bit too often to be believable. Worth a look.

In 1941 a jew in germany is going to american embassy to get away??? If you want a good war story watch Pianist this is waste of time.
