GIgantes y cabezudos

Páramo's direction is rather more lively and interesting than Orduña's (the other director making zarzuela films for TVE around this time). He was fortunate to have María José Alfonso, who is quite affecting as the poor, deceived girl who stubbornly--and with fiery passion--refuses to give up hope. She also mimes the singing of the soundtrack very well (it makes a real difference). The supporting cast is uniformly excellent.
