lazy writing in the first episode & total lack of knowledge of how leaders work makes this a DNF

The storytelling is very flawed, but the nuance in several of the characters is simply amazing.

One fucked up ballet!

Sex, violence, drugs, disease and dance (or in other words: on bodies). Fearing the difficulty of garnering an audience for a ballet-themed series, the producers understandably push these ingredients towards the lurid, but then why also concoct the world's mopiest protagonist? Using real dancers as actors does indeed enable dance to be integrated into the narrative in quite a strong way, and the presentation of the backstage milieu, and the war that is ballet, is both insightful and grotesque.

Boobs, bitching and ballet, high-melodrama of the guilty pleasure kind. Thing is, they've done it so right; using acting dancers, photographing really well and -in the best episodes- balancing meleodrama, dance and scene-setting brilliantly -don't too guilty.
