Five Days at Memorial

The first 5 episodes bring, tho soapy at times, an effective realtime portrayal of the disaster, total institutional collapse and the chaos ensuing; a TOUGH topic that in its telling really honors the extremely difficult ethical choices at play in a situation like that. Last 3 eps it throws all of that subtlety overboard and focuses on a narratively redundant and tonally tonedeaf investigation. Herein the creators prove to be completely out of their depth painting the complexities of the matter

Its definitely an interesting story. I think its taking a little too much time getting there though. The performances are fine, its well filmed but it just lags at times. I will finish it up, but unless there is a tremendous final few episodes, I don't see the score changing much.

Well acted and shot. It’s an important story to tell, but I don’t know if a limited series was the way to do it. Feature length would’ve likely been better and more to the point, or even just condensing this by a few episodes.

It is very hard to watch at times. 5 Days at Memorial takes an unflinching look at the devestation that occured post Hurricane Katrina. It shows us what occurred inside the hospital and it was unlike anything anyone could have ever imagined. This series is not for everyone and the emotional scenes are very hard to handle. Keep that in mind when choosing to sit down and watch this one.
