Finnegan Begin Again

Man, people get nostalgic over this one. All I can say is, thank god HBO's taste in original programming improved or it wouldn't have lasted the decade. It's a solid enough plot as far as rom-coms go, but the dialogue is often brash and always cheesy, and the director does nothing to modulate things--there's not a whiff of subtlety anywhere. It is saved only, and I mean ONLY, by the skill and charisma of the three leads--Mary Tyler Moore, Robert Preston, and Sam Waterston.
