Gloriously weird. The only sober person involved with this was the narrator, who seems to pause in the middle of every sentence like "...Really?"

Take one of those delightfully melodramatic, soap-opera-y '70s comic books; chop off the last two years of a seven-year run; include every weird subplot, all the weird-ass takes on religion, every moment they'd been building up to without any of the context; compress it all down to an hour and a half; run it thru the hallucinatory filter of classic '80s blood-and-sex OAVs; and give it a wonderfully terrible dub, with over-the-top narration and awful voice direction. The animation is sloppy and poorly done even by 1980s standards, the story itself is all over the place and doesn't make a lot of sense. The main reason it score as good of a score as it got is because the movie loaded with insane plot points and ideas. So I watch the dubbed version and rated it 20/100 and figured that the original version ... [Full review]
