Attractive, contented Yvonne Schumacher (the excellent Barbara Auer) has built a comfortable life with hubby Stefan (Stefan Kurt) since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Her world is shaken to the roots when she receives a letter from a woman in prison telling her Stefan was cheating for six years. Yvonne makes the long journey to jail to meet with the writer, Vera Glaubitz (Barbara Sukowa, in her fourth film for von Trotta). (variety.com)
