Surprisingly bad. The animations are nice, but everything else is sub-standard and unsatisfying.

Seems like people had some issues with this (and I certainly myself had issues with the first season being a cumulative hour and a half, that's barely a "season"!) - but I have to say I found it to be a pretty groovy and imaginative adaptation of Castlevania. I liked the way it built up Dracula, liked the loutish interpretation of Trevor Belmont, found Alucard very cool and dug the action and dark religious/terror vibe and the animation. Looking forward to next season.

some pretty stupid schlock, but is at least courageous enough to make the Catholic Church the true villain

It's hard to judge just four episodes of something, especially when it only tells part of a story, teasing at the rest in the same vein as Marvel at their worst. The first three episodes aren't particularly interesting, either. But the fourth episode knocks it out of the park with a spectacular fight and great promise for what's to come, which the second season better deliver on.

"terrible" is too strong, more watchable but overhyped and in the end , trope riddled, in both plot and animation style. Just partially watched (gave up early s4) IMO hugely overrated - animation fluid but basic, plot - OK but very 'seen it all before'. No thanks. Anyone comparing this to (the better shows in Japanese) anime has not watched real anime IMHO.

A landmark for Western animation. Sometimes the plot is a little cheesy or exposition heavy. However, the overall plot and character development coupled with the fantastic action sequences, all set to a nostalgic soundtrack, catapult this show to modern classic status.

Uma ótima adaptação da lore de games para a televisão, e um dos melhores animes que a netflix foi capaz de fazer também.

The first season was slow, but the second season picked up and was really solid. I think the show went downhill from there, and suffered from having too many plot lines and characters we had to check in on. Still, the animated action sequences were freaking baller, especially the wizard chick, Sypha. Could watch her magic the shit out of demons, monsters, and vampires all night long.

Takes a moment to get invested, but by the end of the second season it was a pretty fun ride. Great action and animation, decent pacing, far more gory than expected. S4 did feel a bit edgy at times with overuse of profanity, and Germain’s character arc felt forced and unnecessary. But it wrapped up well, with the last two episodes being exciting and satisfying, respectively.

Striking visuals and likable characters all wrapped into an interesting plot that sadly fizzles out quite in the final season. Lenore is best vampire. Fight me about!

after a weak 1st season or 2 Castlevania builds on its story well and develops a compelling dark world, setting, and decent characters. a bit heavy on the trauma porn and gore, and the character accents feel rather overacted. some of the jokes are pretty good

A Dracula story that has nothing to do with Stoker's story and thank God for it. A completely new take on a blood-drinking Dark Lord in Transylvania in medieval times + a really good story with burning rage and emotions. I got hooked in a single minute. My main problem with it was unfortunately the protagonist who wasn't a very interesting character at the BEGINNING, but don't stop watching, he evolves in a satisfying manner. Must watch if you can take lots of cartoon blood and violence.

Poor script, poor dialogue, poor directing. Beautiful visuals and a concept with potential, but it's wasted. Watched S1 only, it might get better afterwards.

[Full series] Animation at this budget comes with obstacles. The lack of varied facial expressions and detailed surroundings to aid in immersion puts a premium things like sound, dialogue, humor and character work. Castlevania lacks on all four counts. The sound mix is distracting, dialogue is often stilted and character relations/progressions are rushed and/or cliched. The show gains points for great action scenes, fun nods to the games and the best summoner in television history, Isaac.

Belmont is intriguingly flawed, Dracula's ire is quite relatable if a huge exercise in displacement, and Alucard is shaping up to be a great character caught in the middle. I am impressed thus far, and I cannot wait for season 2. Hopefully it will have more than a pithy four episodes.

Pretty entertaining for a such a short season. It's well animated, has plenty of cool action and has a pretty interesting build up for an epic story. However the dialogue fluctuates between tolerable and hilariously awful, and it really went overboard with its anti-religion themes, which as far as I know wasn't a thing in the games (then again the only one I played and finished so far was SOTN). Still, if nothing else it holds the distinction of being the first halfway decent video game adaption

The first season has a decent enough hook, but after that I got tired of the show's pretentious take on human nature and boring vampire politics with nauseatingly puerile attempts to be cool and funny. When the show actually decides to shut up and give us action the scenes are generally pretty cool despite the weirdly low FPS, but when 90% of it is just really bad drama it's hard to maintain interest, especially when the interesting elements of its drama isn't given much attention.

Season 1: It's hard to judge based on so little material, but I must say that I enjoyed this tiny fist season of Castlevania. The writing has a bit to be desired, but the voice acting and animation are awesome, with the show itself sporting some cool visuals to accompany a pretty badass 4 episode build up. I'll be excited for a longer season 2.

Hard to get a bead on this. It's kinda clunky and weird, but it's also the first video game adaptation that's actually legit kinda good?

Castlevania displays as much nuance as a bucket of nails. In 4 episodes, the show makes a compelling case for Dracula's revenge and then presents characters equally as self-righteous as the protagonists, tempting the viewer to switch alligiance with magic, monsters and violence. It's silly, but not altogether bad. The 2nd season is more focused and an improvement. By the 3rd season, I'm invested in this show.
