Blue Planet II has all the majesty of the Planet Earth series and is a worthy successor. Also--I already knew marine mammals and cephalapods could be pretty smart, but I'm just amazed at the apparent intelligence of some of the fish in this.

The more of these BBC wildlife docs I watch the harder it is to write reviews for them. Normally, if you know exactly what to expect from a piece of art, that's considered a bad thing, but in this case it isn't: You expect beauty, majesty, some educational nuggets and the soothing dulcet tones of David Attenborough, and that's exactly what you get. And I loved every minute of it.

A worthy showcase of the immense beauty, intrigue and drama in our oceans. The cinematography of these series never ceases to amaze me, and this show – more than any of its predecessors – breathes urgency regarding the way us humans are treating our planet. My only minor gripe is the lengths to which the narration and editing will go to tell a coherent story, which at times feels somewhat contrived. Nevertheless, this is a must-watch for pretty much anyone.

This is exactly the definition of "majestic".I love BBC documentaries. Its not just taking some record about animals or ecology. BBC Documantries are really the pieces of art.

On the same level as the original Planet Earth from memory, though some of the foley work is a bit overbearing (e.g. putting 1950's UFO-style theremins over the shimmering cuttlefish). Still, it's fantastic and one of the best nature documentaries you could experience.
