The basis of good sci-fi is believability. I need to believe that what is happening -- though not currently achievable in our world -- is possible. This fails in that sense. I mean c'mon, really? The ability to block anyone at any time? Why would it benefit humanity? And if it hurts humanity, why was it implemented? What makes this a dystopia or a utopia? At least it was somewhat entertaining here or there.

haven't seen any black mirror so far, but luckily this seems unrelated enough to be enjoyed on its own. the style reminds a lot of those "tales from the crypt"-like episode movies, just that the horror is based in a much more authentic reality. speaking of which, the way the future is depicted here is sociocritical, devastatingly probable and well webbed into the plot progression. the latter sorta being the downside, too, because one could smell any "twist" from a mile away.

Just makes you want more Black Mirror series to come your way. The atmosphere, the pacing, the storytelling are all great like before. The setting is n0t as well laid-out as the previous ones and has some serious holes in it, but as a stand-alone story everything works out fine in the end. Jon Hamm particularly shone.

Solid first half or so, but with an ultimately kind of underwhelming ending.

Although Black Mirror has raised the level of dystopian science fiction series to a very high standard, this episode is not very successful as its predecessors, because the writer/director quickly jumps on the very good idea (which I am not going to spoil by mentioning) and don't think much about its details and different social implications. Here, the story succeeds the idea and the atmosphere, which I think is other way around in previous episodes.

This became an instant classic for me simply because of the situation that the protagonists find themselves in when the episode ends. All that buildup for some of the more devastating payoffs I've seen in a while, that give me chills the more I think about them. The perfect gift for those who hate Christmas and/or humanity and/or everything.

It's the implications that hit you later, that's where the creepiness shines through. More please.

OH. MY. GOD. black mirror, what have you done to me!? this has to be the pinnacle of this show, in every sense of the word! everything that i've come to love about what this show is, and what it represents, is expressed in this episode, better than ever. not only is this one of the darkest, and most shocking episodes in the series, it is also one of the most human. the show has never been more balanced in this regard. one of the best exercises in storytelling and innovation i've ever seen.

This guy Charlie Brooker gets me. I love his vision of a dystopian future in these Black Mirror films/vignettes.

This was pretty good overall but a bit uneven, It was way too long and took too long to get to any kind of a point.

Despite multiple attempts, I never managed to make it through this one. People seem to like it but its pacing's always felt off to me.

My favorite Black Mirror episode by far. I don't know the last time a TV show has left me in a state of despair.

It's a bit overcrowded with the overlapping stories but like always this was chilling, gripping stuff. Not sure if this will be a Christmas special I'll watch again come the real day...

One of the best episodes. Well-executed tech concept used in a more conventionally entertaining context--vs. the more realistic, thought-provoking/disturbing nature of most of the other episodes.

Damn I love this series. All three vignettes are good on their own. But the way they all build into the ending makes this one of the smartest episodes of a show that is already lightyears smarter than almost everything else around. And just absolutely fucking devastating.

I particularly enjoyed Jon Hamm and the first story that his character tells. There are three regular episodes of the show that I prefer to the christmas special. They are: 1. The Entire History of You (S1) - 2. Be Right Back (S2) - 3. San Junipero (S3)

I just don't buy the ideas suggested in this episode. 1)Blocking someone simply doesn't hold because it invites the state of nature back. If you can block anyone why not block everyone you don't like? However, as it's well represented in the first episode of 4th season, today people let you in without accepting you through social media and shallow culture of tolerance. 2) The AI which suffers: an AI can't suffer. Pain is a concept exclusive to beings which have a body, so fuck this crying AI.

There was too much disparate stuff in this one that didn't add up to anything in the end - maybe it is best thought of as an anthology-within-an-anthology. Couldn't help but laugh at how dark it got in places.

Another good Black Mirror, with Hamm & Spall putting in the type of performances that really add weight to the piece. Brooker tries to throw too many themes into this one - including an offshoot of his own Entire History of You and at least one Outer Limits episode - and without the time for adequate exploration some should have been left out altogether. But in the end the pieces fit nicely and it's an engrossing watch throughout.

One of my favorite payoffs in a Black Mirror episode. Jon Hamm really steals the show on this one and plays his character amazingly. The other guy has moments of brilliant or bad acting, but his story really hits home as a more personal and sad tale. I'm always amazed by how these stories tie themselves together so nicely at the end.
